Previewing The Time Of The Doctor

We got the first trailer today. It's short but interesting.

In it we can hear Clara narrate: "And now its time for one last bow, like all your other selves. Eleven's hour is over now. The clock is striking twelve's."

The mysterious woman says, "The siege of Trenzalore has begun." and "The Timelord has entered the trap."

Clara begs someone to help The Doctor change the future.

A Dalek bleats, "The Doctor is regenerating."


Here are some of the images I found interesting. First the mysterious woman, Tasha Lem. I don't know where the name comes in, but we've been told she is someone from The Doctor's past. By the look of her, and how she has taken charge of this army, it really looks to me like it might be The Rani, the evil Timelady we last saw in "Time and The Rani." Which is good, and a regeneration episode, but not as good as "The Mark of The Rani." IMHO.

And given the other images we have seen, I wonder where this is...

Looks like The Doctor is legend on Trenzalore, but is this before or after whatever happens happens?

I was wondering what this huge Dalek gun was sticking out from the one on the left, but when looking at the second picture, it looks like it might have been attached to that tank.

Speaking of the Daleks, look in the first photo, has The Doctor become King of the Daleks? In the second pic I find the painting with a Silence in it interesting. Looks like it might be Timelord art.

Here are three of our villains. Quite a spooky image of the angel. The Silence appears to be singing a power ballad. I love the look of the wooden Cyberman. It's been put out there that they upgraded when they found out the sonic screwdriver doesn't do wood. (He has GOT to fix that) I think it could be that or to do with the gold allergy they used to have, which was brought up in "The Nightmare In Silver."

Lastly I'll share more proof of The Doctor's legend on Trenzalore. How these children would know all of these things to draw I have no idea. Mostly the images are familiar, but there are a couple I question.

Are You Ready? Updated With New Trailer

While I've been doing my Christmas decorating the news tidbits have been coming in. And now we have a trailer finally!! See the new trailer here and check out the HD images.  (UPDATE: They removed the first trailer but here is the 50th special trailer, the first trailer and click the previous link to the new extended 2nd trailer, indeed it appears to be the one from Comic

                                          


We also know the time of broadcast, which I suspected when I got my tickets to the 3D cinema simulcast!! "The Day Of The Doctor" will air at 7:50 pm GMT, which for me in the eastern U.S. is 2:50 pm. I'm afraid to start thinking about what time I need to get to the theater.

BBCAmerica has posted their schedule for the week leading up to the 50th. Along with marathons of each of the contemporary Doctors, we get to see The Science of Doctor Who with Brian Cox, An Adventure in Time and Space, and both Matt Smith and David Tennant on Graham Norton. The next day will be Matt's Doctor's revisited and my big weekend will extend to Monday when I have a ticket to the extra showing of "The Day of The Doctor" in 3D. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the little something we will get for Children In Need on the 15th. I also hear there is another trailer, possibly the Comic Con one, coming as well. I hope my DVR doesn't overflow, because I plan a 2 week Who takeover of my broadcasting, which will include giving you a review of the Big Finish audio drama "The Light at the End."

I do have to wonder, despite interviews where they mention the fun of working together, what Billie Piper's role is in the 50th. The absence of many filming pics made me suspicious, and the obvious appearance of "Bad Wolf" Rose in the trailer makes me wonder more. Hopefully we are getting both.

Dissecting The Special Trailer

So remember when I said a few minutes ago that I could hardly wait for the dissection of the trailer? Yeah, that didn't take long. I selected these images to show and point out some of the things that may have flown by too fast for you to notice.

The trailer begins in black and white, but quickly switches in an explosion of color that also brings elements of The Doctor's timeline. In the 2nd pic you can see Matt Smith's fez and the reboot's original sonic screwdriver. There is alos a mask I recognize but can't quite place yet.

Look close in this pic and you can see the modern TARDIS key as well as the Timelord chameleon arch fob watch. There is a blast coming from a Dalek that has shot a U.N.I.T. soldier you see off to the left. 

Quite an effective color reconstruiction of the first Doctor.

The second Doctor playing his recorder, with what I think is  fourth Doctor sonic screwdriver.

Excellent representation of Tom Baker's Doctor with the floating jelly babies.

This is an awesome shot of a young Sarah-Jane watching the third Doctor battle The Master inside his TARDIS. The background is of London with Daleks and 80's Cybermen.

The image of Sarah-Jane turns into Clara, with Sarah-Jane as the reflection in the globe. Clara's leaf floats behind her. I find this interesting, especially with Clara being named after Elisabeth Sladen.

Here they scrunched in the fifth, sixth, ninth and tenth Doctors. I'm thinking that's Davros shooting lightning bolts.

As the shot turns you also see an Auton, an Ood, a Dalek and Rose Tyler. Also you begin to see the eighth Doctor.

I don't know what to make of the figure approaching the tenth Doctor. It doesn't look like an Auton. But there's Bessie :)

Ten

They pass ten and show Doctor eleven on a stone tower with a Gallifreyan symbol on it. Is that the tower of Rassilon off to the right? The golden gate bridge is off the the left, San Francisco being the setting for the eighth Doctor's lone adventure.

As the debris still floats around you see elevens sonic screwdriver, The Master's laser screwdriver and the sonic pen from "Partners In Crime."

Matt grabs his sonic and goes into action...

Special 50 Years Anniversary Trailer

Here is the (as promised) fantastic trailer that celebrates 50 years of Who in one minute. Done very very well  and I can't wait to see the dissections of some of the images we see.

50th Special Trailer To Air

With 35 days and some hours left until the 50th special, we should start getting more goodies from the BBC. We already know about the "Adventures in Space and Time" movie that chronicles the beginning of Doctor Who, and it's looking more like there are side projects including previous Doctors.

BBC issued a press release tonight (my time) regarding a special trailer made to commemorate the 50 years of the show and promises to use state of the art technology to show every Doctor in high def color as they first appeared on screen. They also released this awesome image of the eleven Doctors.

Not that we aren't grateful, but we crave more! Give us a "The Day of The Doctor" trailer! If you are in England the special trailer will be airing Saturday night at 8:20 p.m. In my time zone (Eastern states) that is 3:30 p.m., or whenever it hits the internet.

I might as well come back and edit this to include the 50th promo pics they released a few days ago...

Who News and Finale Spoilers!

First of all congratulations to Doctor Who for getting specially honored tomorrow night at the BAFTA's. I read it will include a video montage and include Daleks on the red carpet.

Now concerning "The Name of The Doctor" I have a couple of spoilers. Doctor Who Magazine is saying that in the finale we are getting a POST library river Song. VERY interesting.

"Nightmare In Silver was good, but I didn't get to see it all yet. But I did see the next time trailer for the finale, and it looks good. But even better is the TV trailer the BBC released. Watch it, and listen, it's pretty enlightening....

Also they released about a 4 minute prequel for "The Name of The Doctor" called "She said, He said."

Fun clip from "The Crimson Horror"

Classic Who fans should like this clip from Saturdays episode, "The Crimson horror". it's an interesting presentation, and it makes me wonder if the actual episode will have that olde filme quality. What I loved about it, though, was it payed homage to Tegan Jovanka, one of my favorite all time companions. First he jokingly recalls how much trouble he had getting Tegan to Heathrow airport. It took over a series for him to finally accidentally get it right, only for her to come back the next series. But what he also does was very sweet. At the sound of a scream, he tells Clara, "Brave heart, Clara", something he used to say to Tegan.

I had the pleasure to see Janet Fielding, Tegan herself, at a convention in Atlanta. This was the old days when you could get close to the stars and sometimes converse with them. before DragonCon and ComicCon I met her, Mark Strickson (Turlough), Louise Jameson (Leela), The 3rd and 5th Doctors, and I was as close to them as I am to Scott across the room. This was also when a young teen could pay for admission with his allowance. I don't know where all my pictures went, but I found these. The first is Louise Jameson, then one of both Janet Fielding and Mark Strickson, and then one of me with Janet and Mark. And I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry but you're going to see some really bad homemade highlights. I'm wearing my TARDIS key and the scarf I forced my mother to crochet, fashioned after the scarf Tom Baker wore in his final series. It's about 13 feet long and I still have it.
